The Journal of Julius Rodman by Edgar Allan Poe: Character Analysis

Julius Rodman- Julius Rodman is James Rodman's grandfather. He was a native to England. "Where his relatives were of excellent standing." He was a writer for it says in the story," the writer of the narrative. His grandson followed in his foot steps as a writer, also.

He received a good education. He emigrated from England in 1784. He was, also, eighteen years of age at that time. When they came to America they settled in New York. Afterwards they moved to Kentucky.

After Julius' father's death he set out on an expedition. His father died 1790. Later on that year in the winter his sisters died from the small-pox disease. Later on he settled down in Abingdon, Virginia, and was married and had three children. Most of his descendants live there.

The Pit and the Pendulum by Edgar Allan Poe: Character Analysis

The Narrator- It says in the beginning," I was sick-sick unto death." So it sounds like he is being tormented. I think he was crazy because it also says," the sound of the inquisitorial voices." I think he was on something too because he said that the judges lips were white. Durring his sentencing he was deaf.

I think he was hallucinating because in the story it said that he saw angels. He was kind of bright though it seemed. He said himself that he was delirious. He seems like he is terrified all the time. He talks a lot about sudden terror and shudders.

The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe: Character Analysis

Prince Prospero- It says in the story," but the Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious." It, also, says," the creation of the prince's own eccentric yet august taste." The prince seems like he is already a king by throughing a party for upper class people. He seems arrogant because he thinks that he can keep out the Red Death. He also seems like he is happy, though.

He acts like he is not worried about the disease. Because of this I think he is very laid back. He acts like he likes to party. I think this because he had a party that lasted months. He seems like he was well liked.

It says in the story that he entertained thousands of his friends. It says the duke, which I am guessing is a relative of the prince, likes bizarre things. It, also, said that the duke had a peculiar taste in things. When the prince saw someone in his castle that had the disease he was enraged. He is kind of a coward, too.
